Qualification Overview
The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Coaching Strength Training (RQF) has been developed in partnership with British Weight Lifting and provides learners with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of an independent coach in Strength Training, to develop participant(s) in Strength Training and develop an understanding of participants and their development needs.
Learners will also understand the technical requirements for Strength Training, understand the basic competition requirements for Strength Training and be able to prepare, deliver and evaluate a series of linked and progressive Strength Training coaching sessions and correct basic technical faults.
The Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Coaching Strength Training (RQF) is aimed at those learners who may wish to coach as part of a larger coaching team or independently.
Qualification Structure
To successfully achieve the Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Coaching Strength Training (RQF) learners must complete the three mandatory units below achieving a total of 7 credits.
Learner Entry Requirements
Learners should be competent in literacy and numeracy to help with elements of communication. This is at the discretion of the centre as they may decide to use diagnostic testing methods to ascertain how they can support learners.

Learners wishing to progress from this qualification can undertake the following qualifications:
- Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Coaching Strength Training (RQF)
- Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Weight Training (RQF)
- Focus Awards Level 1 Award in Coaching Weight Lifting (RQF)
Age Ranges
Entry is at the discretion of the centre; however, learners should be at least 16 to undertake this qualification.

This qualification has been accredited for use in England and Northern Ireland.
