Qualification Overview
Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF) is aimed at those learners who are currently first aiders in the workplace and have access to a defibrillator.
On completing this qualification, learners will have the knowledge, understanding, and skills required to be able to understand basic life support requirements and demonstrate basic life support techniques. Learners will also be able to carry out basic user maintenance and understand the safe use of an automated external defibrillator.
This qualification expires after 3 years, at which point learners will be required to re-sit the qualification. There is also a recommendation that learners refresh their knowledge annually.
Qualification Structure
Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF) must complete the mandatory unit.
Learner Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification although it is a Focus Awards recommendation that learners hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate (EFAW). It is also advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy, or equivalent.

Learners seeking progress from this qualification can advance their skills further through the following:
• British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) Specialist Exercise Instructor Level 4 Cardiac Qualification
• Level 4 Certificate in Cancer Rehabilitation
• Level 4 Award in Long Term Neurological Conditions
Age Ranges
Entry is at the discretion of the centre; however, learners should be at least 16 years old to undertake this qualification.
