Qualification Overview

The Focus Awards Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Setting (RQF) is aimed at those learners who have just entered the sector or are considering a career in health and/or social care with adults or children and young people. The Focus Awards Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People’s Settings (RQF) is aimed at developing learners’ knowledge and awareness of health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings including developing the learner’s understanding of the similarities and differences between health, social care and children’s and young people’s setting.

Qualification Structure

Learners must achieve 6 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 4 credits from the optional units totalling 10 credits.

Focus Awards does not set any other entry requirements, but additional criteria may be requested or specified by the centre.

Progression Routes

Learners seeking progress from this qualification can advance their skills further through the following:
    • Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF)
    • Focus Awards Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings (RQF)

Age Ranges

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 16 to undertake this qualification.
