Why is it being replaced?

Developed by experts in response to ongoing changes to the education sector, the new Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) is being introduced in an effort to co-ordinate the qualification with these new developments. This will also enable individuals who are pursuing a career in the Further Education and Skills sector the opportunity to acquire a full teaching qualification by achieving occupational standards.

What will the new qualification consist of?

The new Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) will consist of 8 mandatory units, which develop knowledge on all features within the Further Education and Skills sector:

  • Teachers and Teaching
  • Learners and Learning
  • Professional Practice
  • Effective Digital and Online Pedagogies
  • Action Research
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Managing Behavior
